Bomag launched two new light electric tandem rollers at the bauma exhibition in 2022, and now both models will soon be available to order in the UK. Pricing will be announced shortly.
The BW 100 AD E-5 and BW 120 AD E-5 models are part of the focus on e-Performance, for sustainable and efficient road construction with powerful electric alternatives. The company will also be showing a battery-powered vibratory plate for the first time in this still-young product segment, as well as the already successfully launched BT 60e electric tamper.
The new BW 100 AD e-5 and BW 120 AD e-5 electric tandem rollers from Bomag have two highly efficient electric motors on board: one for the travel system and steering, the other for vibration. In travel-only mode, the machines run with only one electric motor, which saves energy. The ECO function and the braking energy recovery system guarantee economical operation – with maximum power and dynamics.
Charge as it suits you!
Built-in, long-lasting rechargeable batteries that can be charged with a voltage of 230 V or 400 V provide all the electrical power needed for a typical working day. No special facilities are required as charging infrastructure: the machines can be charged directly at an external DC charging point or, thanks to the AC onboard charger, using a CEE socket, wallbox or a domestic connection in a short time. Bomag offers the required charger cable adapters as optional accessories. A state-of-the-art 48-volt onboard power supply provides the drive train with a reliable energy source. As this is a low-voltage system, no special safety requirements have to be observed. This has the advantage that service and maintenance do not have to be carried out by electricians.
Emission-free work is more than just a trend
When it comes to earthworks or asphalt construction, the awarding of contracts is increasingly bound to strict emission limits. Light electric tandem rollers from Bomag, which can easily hold their own against their conventional counterparts, are the equipment of choice here.
Fine dust pollution from exhaust gases and the direct CO2 emissions are zero. At the same time, the electric drive technology offers impressively low noise levels by comparison. This protects people and the environment and, above all, is often the deciding factor when it comes to awarding contracts.
Electric drives taking construction sites by storm
Bomag recommends its e-Performance tandem rollers for use on inner-city construction sites and especially in sensitive areas close to childcare facilities and hospitals. In general, the tandem rollers are suitable for paving roads and all repair and finishing work in road construction. With the electric all-round alternative from Bomag, landscaping companies are equipped for a wide range of tasks while scoring points with customers for using green technology.
Simple and convenient
The tandem roller is operated as usual via a rotary pushbutton switch. The operator can control the machine confidently using the soft-responsive travel lever and compact steering wheel. The operator’s platform is designed to ensure the driver can easily see the work area and drum edges at all times. This enables relaxed and precise work.
A digital driver information system shows all important machine parameters on a 5-inch display, such as speed, current energy requirement, asphalt temperature, compaction progress, operating hours, and battery charging capacity, duration and power. The e-Performance tandem roller can also be easily integrated with Bomag Telematic for tracking, efficient fleet management and logging of operating data.
